About the Program: OpenAI Hackathon in Da Nang
The Da Nang leg of Global Hackathon: Agents, Everywhere ran under the name Open AI Hackathon, held on September 12, 2026 at Da Nang Software Park No. 2 (CVPM2), as part of the broader Danang AI Week lineup, with AI Tinkerers and OpenAI backing the event.
It's one leg of a worldwide build day coordinated across the AI Tinkerers network's chapters, all working from the same brief: build an AI agent that shows up where people already work, talk, and live — not one that sits inside yet another standalone chat window.
The program was built for developers, AI builders, students, and startups, along with anyone curious about applied AI, giving teams a focused space to build, test, and ship an AI-powered product in a single day. Through the hackathon, organizers set out to spark a builder mindset, connect the local tech community, and surface promising AI ideas coming out of Da Nang.
The Numbers Behind the Final Night
The turnout speaks for itself, and for a fast-growing builder scene in Da Nang:
18 teams registered to compete
16 projects submitted with working demos by the 4 p.m. cut-off — a tight deadline for a single build day
47 builders hands-on across those teams
6 finalists made it on stage
One detail worth calling out: the room was a genuine mix of Vietnamese students and engineers alongside international builders based in Da Nang — exactly the kind of diverse, open tech community organizers hoped to bring together. As a tech startup born in Da Nang, Ecomdy knows firsthand how much a hands-on playground like this one matters to the next generation of builders. Watching 16 projects come together in a single day, spanning everything from everyday productivity agents to bolder, experimental ideas, is a solid reminder of the "build now, figure it out as you go" spirit Ecomdy has carried since day one.
Ecomdy Keeps Backing What's Next
Congratulations to the organizers for putting together such an energizing tech showcase, and congratulations to all 18 competing teams for the work they put in. This isn't Ecomdy's first time showing up for community-building tech events either - the team previously supported Ecomathon, an internal hackathon built around cross-border ecommerce challenges, and has run the Ecombator incubation program for early-stage startups.
